Workout Essentials
Starting a workout is always the hardest part. So making sure you have all the proper equipment makes it that much easier. Having the right gear not only helps you perform better but also eliminates excuses—because let’s be honest, we all have those days when we’d rather skip it.
My Gym Essentials
When I’m strength training at the gym, there are a few things I absolutely cannot go without. First and foremost: earbuds. If I don’t have music, my workout instantly becomes way less enjoyable, and honestly, that’s a perfect excuse to cut it short or skip it altogether. Music keeps me motivated and in the zone, so my earbuds are non-negotiable.
Next up, a water bottle. Hydration is key, and I always bring my favorite—whether it’s my Stanley, BrüMate, or HydroJug. Each one has its perks, but as long as I have water within reach, I’m good to go.
Outdoor Running Essentials
Now, if I’m heading outside for a run, my must-have list changes a bit.
First, I rely on my Garmin watch to track my run—it helps me monitor my pace, distance, and overall progress. Then, there’s my running gear. I swear by drawstring leggings because nothing is worse than constantly pulling up your pants mid-run.
For runs where I need to carry my phone, I use a running waist band to keep it secure and out of my hands. And if I’m going for a longer run, I upgrade to a hydration vest, which conveniently holds my phone, keys, water, and anything else I might need.
Running with Cleo
If I’m running with Cleo, my black lab, my gear shifts again. I prefer using my Lululemon belt bag—it’s the perfect size for my phone, keys, poop bags, and treats. I also use a waist leash because it allows me to run hands-free, which is way better for my form.
When the trails aren’t busy, I like to let Cleo off-leash, but that means we always bring her e-collar to ensure she stays safe and responsive.
Find What Works for You
Everyone’s must-haves will be slightly different, but the key is finding what makes your workout smoother, more enjoyable, and easier to stick with. Whether it’s the right gear, the perfect playlist, or a water bottle you actually love using—whatever gets you moving is what matters most!
